Who I Am – Vijay Bajaj

I’m a husband, father, and purpose-driven entrepreneur who has built three market-leading businesses—after failing several times early on. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been on a quest to discover what it truly takes to achieve lasting success and deep fulfilment. That journey took me from business boardrooms to years of deep meditation—including two years where I meditated four hours a day (don’t worry—you don’t have to!).

Through it all, I cracked the code. I call it the Flywheel of Fulfilment™—a practical, proven system that helps people thrive professionally while living in harmony across all areas of life. My story proves one powerful truth: you don’t have to choose between extraordinary achievement and lasting fulfilment—you can have both.

How My Work Will Benefit You

Most high achievers are stuck in a silent struggle—externally successful but internally feeling empty. Always pushing. Always sacrificing. Quietly wondering if this is all life has to offer. I know that feeling intimately—because I lived it for the early part of my life.

That’s why I developed the Flywheel of Fulfilment™—a practical, proven system to help you achieve extraordinary success without sacrificing your health, relationships, peace of mind, or joy along the way.

This isn’t another motivational theory or productivity hack. It’s a comprehensive life operating model built to help you thrive across all areas of life—at the same time. Rooted in decades of entrepreneurial experience, two years of deep daily meditation, and countless real-world lessons, it integrates what truly matters: clarity, vitality, mindset mastery, relationships, meaningful experiences, impact, growth, freedom, and simplicity

If you’re ready to stop chasing and start living—to align your life with your soul and wake up feeling inspired, not just busy—this work will show you how.

Absolutely. Here’s a detailed and emotionally grounded version of your story written in the first person for the “My Story” section of your website. It’s structured to flow naturally, create deep connection, and establish credibility through authenticity:

My Story

My Story For as long as I can remember, I’ve been driven by a hunger to go deeper—to understand what it truly takes to live a life that feels whole. I wasn’t just chasing success; I was searching for fulfillment in every area—joy in my work, meaning in my days, deep connection and belonging in my relationships, and a sense of harmony and happiness that made every part of life feel aligned. That search has taken me through soaring highs and painful lows. After years of experimenting, failing, learning, deep meditation, and refining, I uncovered a system that worked—not just once, but repeatedly. Every chapter of my life has shaped the system in this book—the Flywheel of Fulfilment™

I wasn’t always this clear or aligned. In fact, my early life was filled with struggle. I was born just north of London and, like many first-generation kids growing up in the UK, I was raised on hard work, resilience, and silent perseverance. After university, I started a job in finance in London—but it didn’t align with who I was. I walked away, chasing something I couldn’t yet define.

By the time I was 25 in 1991, I had launched and failed in one business, had three others that were stillborn, and then incredibly despite that got married. I had also bought an apartment in an area called St John’s Wood in London in 1988—just before interest rates started rising and peaked at 15.5%. My apartment dropped in value by 40%, leaving me with negative equity. My mortgage tripled, leaving me with crippling debt and facing bankruptcy.

But with the love and positive energy of my wife, whom I had just married, the next business I launched in 1991—with little to no money—took off. I had just come through a very tough three years of literal survival. I remember my wife and I counting pennies from a jar to decide what we’d eat that day.

By the age of 30, I was running one of the UK’s largest office equipment distributors in my industry sector, representing all the major brands. But something was missing. The money was there, but the joy wasn’t. I was constantly working long hours and weekends, and on edge—fueled by the fear of losing everything I had built, and with little to no love for what I was doing. I was embedded and driven by the belief that working non-stop is the only way to achieve success, and we must sacrifice everything else. That working longer hours produced more financial success. Deluding myself to believe that I should enjoy the fruits of my labor later in life. In my struggle to move as far out of poverty as possible, I developed a deeply engrained workaholic mindset believing every minute must be optimized for work-related tasks, otherwise you are wasting time.

In 1999, I sold that business due to shifting market trends and our desire to have a baby and struggling. My wife and I traveled around India for 6 months, where she conceived. I also during that time, I created my first template for myself on living a happy life. When we got back. I did some consultancy work, which led me to decide to launch a business in the conference industry—another major leap, but this time with a business that aligned with my values. My first conference was on Global Transport Security in Chicago in 2002, and it was a huge success. I went on to become the market leader in conferences on security and counter-terrorism, and then Lean & Six Sigma, and subsequently Business Transformation & Operational Excellence.

But once again, I found myself sacrificing too much—my health, friendships, peace, and experiences—all traded for business growth.

In 2012, at the age of 47, I decided to take time off. That’s when the real journey began.

I spent the next two years in deep meditation—four hours a day, every day. I studied ancient wisdom, yogic sciences, breathwork, neuroscience, and high performance. I embraced a minimalist lifestyle, woke up at 5 a.m., took cold showers, and sat with my mind until I understood its patterns. I reached profound states of bliss and clarity. And in those moments, I realised: success and fulfillment are not separate pursuits. They are parts of the same system—but only when you design them to be.

I began designing my future self with intention. I designed rituals, systems, and principles that aligned my vision, values, strengths, passions, and why. I redefined my definition of success to include vitality, joy, relationships, purpose, contribution, and freedom. I turned everything I learned into a system I could live by where every element of life enhanced and fueled the other—The Flywheel of Fulfilment™, where you can have extraordinary success and lasting fulfillment.

I realised that true fulfillment doesn’t come from stopping work—it comes from doing work that aligns with who you are. No matter what stage of life you’re in, you need something that gives you purpose—a reason for getting up excited in the morning. The goal isn’t to hustle endlessly and then retire, hoping one day you’ll finally start living. That’s a dangerous illusion. The real goal is to do work you love, that you’re naturally good at, and that aligns with your values, beliefs, and deeper reasons for being. Even if you only work a few hours a week later in life, that work must still spark something in you. Purpose is not optional—it’s oxygen for the soul. When you abandon it, even in the pursuit of rest, you risk losing your energy, your direction, and the very joy you were working for all along.

It’s only when your work is integrated into a life of harmony—where your work, relationships, health, personal growth, contribution, and rest are all getting the right level of attention at the moment —that you’ll truly thrive. That’s when work becomes not just something you do, but an expression of who you are.

Today, I live an extraordinary life in harmony. I’m in my late 50s, but I feel 30—energised, grounded, and in flow. My marriage is thriving after 34 years. My son, who graduated with first-class honours from Oxford, is humble, kind, and full of integrity. I still build businesses and make investments—but only in ventures that align. I also speak. I write. I serve. And I wake up every day excited.

I’ve lived what I teach. I’ve built success. But I’ve rebuilt it the right way. My mission now is to help others do the same—to live with purpose, create extraordinary success, and feel deeply fulfilled in every area of life.

If I can do it, so can you. Life isn’t just about achievement. It’s about living a life that feels worth reliving—every single day. It is about being on your death bed with a smile on your face, no regrets, just happiness and contentment.
